Volcano Monitoring and Magma Movements MOOC (massive open online course)

Announcement and registration are now open for a new MOOC course, available for ALL (in the world), on volcano monitoring and magma movements, offered by University of Iceland and collaborators, through its participation in edX. All can register and see what this is about and learn about volcanoes. You can go on edx.org and search for “volcano”, or directly see link:

https://www.edx.org/course/monitoring-volcanoes-and-magma-movements

The course is designed to be of interest for students, those involved in monitoring and research on volcanoes, as well as people living near volcanoes and interested public in general - all who want to understand volcanoes better and/or some of the available volcano monitoring techniques.

Online videos on the use of DefVolc : tools for the inversion of surface displacements

Tutorial videos are now available for DefVolc. DefVolc is a software for inverse modeling of displacement data (InSAR, GNSS), whether the sources of displacement are fracture (fluid filled fracture or faults) or massive reservoirs. DefVolc is based on a 3D Boundary element method for elastic media combined with inversions, based on near-neighborhood inversion algorithms. The videos can be seen from the link :
